Rugby Tips - Week Five Review

Weekly Review

A weekend of exciting action that at times was closer than I would have liked gave us another profitable week as we took a home a sizeable 17.5 Points of Profit. Here’s a look at how it all unfolded.

Clermont, Ulster, Exeter, Munster, Saracens and Toulouse all won with varying degrees of ease to land the big short odds 6 fold.

Recommended Bet: 20 Points 6 FOLD - Clermont To Beat Harlequins (1/8), Ulster To Beat Bath (1/18), Exeter To Beat La Rochelle (1/33), Munster To Beat Ospreys (1/25), Saracens To Beat Racing (1/5) and Toulouse To Beat Gloucester (1/7) – 6 Fold Pays 0.72/1 (1.72 Decimal) at Betfair Sportsbook. – WON +14.4 Points

Ulster 22 – 15 Bath

The most disappointing game of the weekend in my opinion, as for a team with qualification at stake against effectively a reserve team being fielded by Bath, Ulster gave a very poor showing. They won the game 22-15 which kept our 6 fold alive but made our -15.5 bet a loser.

Munster 33 - 6 Ospreys

The disappointment in Ulster’s performance was increased when with a strong second half performance Munster hammered Ospreys 33-6, which covered our -16.5 bet but Ulster had already cost us the 8 point double. The Munster victory kept the 6 fold alive though and left it in the hands of Saracens and Toulouse.

Recommended Bet: 8 Points DOUBLE Ulster -15.5 (2/5) and Mnster -16.5 (4/9) Alternative 2 Way Match Handicap – Double Pays 1.02/1 at Bet365 - LOST

Sale 7 - 45 Glasgow

When you back a half time full time with different winners at each, the last thing you want is one team to completely dominate in the first half, unfortunately that’s what happened here at least on the scoreboard. Glasgow led 21-0 at half time which is a little misleading as Sale kicked to the corner 6 times but came away with nothing which meant that all bets were looking close to lost by the break. Second half was more of the same as the same as Glasgow piled up the score despite card trouble and a full time score of 45-7 ended a thoroughly uncompetitive affair.

Recommended Bet: 2 Points Sale Half Time Glasgow Full Time at 11/2- Bet365 - LOST

Recommended Bet: 2 Points Glasgow Half Time Sale Full Time at 12/1- Bet365 - LOST

Recommended Bet: 1 Point Half Time Draw at 13/1 – Betfair Sportsbook or Paddy Power - LOST

Recommended Bet: 1 Point Full Time Draw at 25/1 – Ladbrokes or Boylesports - LOST

Saracens 27 - 24 Racing

The game of the weekend both from a viewing perspective and for our bank balance saw Saracens scrape past Racing by the tightest of margins. A week which saw Saracens relegated from the Premiership due to cap infringements meant they only had Europe to play for to give their season any meaning whatsoever. With that to spur them on they flew out the blocks, 14-0 up early they looked to be cruising to victory but before the tide turned in the French side’s favour. Two Racing tries at 17-7 saw them go into half time 21-17 ahead and Saracens fans must have feared their week from hell would get even worse, with Will Skelton sent off just before the break, Saracens were facing an uphill task just to qualify for the Quarter Finals. Racing’s lead at half time meant that should Saracens win the match we would net our half time full time result at 6/1. Second half Saracens showed the grit you would expect of a team that has won three of the last four European cups and at 24-17 down, a Maro Itoje try saw them level the match at 24 apiece. A tight last 20 minutes saw Racing go down to 14 men through a yellow card and after some heavy Saracens pressure produced a penalty, a simple Owen Farrell kick put Saracens ahead 27-24. It was a lead they would hang onto with strong late defense and the 27-24 final score saw us net a huge profit from the match.

Recommended Bet: 10 Points Racing +15 points Match Handicap at 10/11 – Ladbrokes or Coral – WON +9.1 Points

Recommended Bet: 2 Points Racing Half Time Saracens Full Time at 6/1- Betfair Sportsbook or Paddy Power – WON +12 Points

Recommended Bet: 1 Point Saracens Half Time Racing Full Time at 20/1- Bet365 - LOST

Toulouse 35 - 14 Gloucester

Saracens victory over Racing meant we needed Toulouse to beat Gloucester to make our 6 fold a winner and produce another large weekly profit. Despite falling behind 7-0, the French outfit didn’t disappoint storming into a 21-7 lead before Gloucester pulled it back to 21-14 just before half. This provided a bit of cover for the 6 fold as should Gloucester win we would land our 22/1 half time full time bet but that proved inconsequential as Toulouse powered home for a 35-14 win and left us 17.5 points up for the week.

Recommended Bet: 2 Points Gloucester Half Time Toulouse Full Time at 13/2- Betfair Sportsbook - LOST

Recommended Bet: 1 Point Toulouse Half Time Gloucester Full Time at 22/1- Bet365 - LOST
