Week 4 Review
Wow well what can I say about this week? A week that saw us accumulate a truly outrageous 69.47 Points of Profit meaning those followers betting £10 a point will have taken home nearly £700 cash. One week after a late Northampton try cost us a potential windfall, nearly every ball bounced our way as we landed 11/2, 7/1, 10/1 and 28/1 winners combined with our 15 point treble to give the bookies an absolute kicking.
Bath 19 – 25 Harlequins
With Harlequins naming a close to full strength side and Bath making 14 changes and then suffering a couple of injuries in the first half, the ideal scenario for us was Bath to lead at half time thus leaving us supporting Harlequins to win at full time. With Harlequins up 12-7 a minute before half time Bath crossed for a try in the corner that tied the scores at 12 all and us facing a potential loser unless the conversion was successfully kicked. Thankfully Freddie Burns nailed an absolute peach of a kick to send Bath in at the break 14-12 ahead. Harlequins came out firing in the second half and raced into a 22-14 lead before Bath pegged them back to 22-19. A further Quins penalty put them up 25-19 and some strong late defence held off the surging home side and landed us a 7/1 winner in the process.

Clermont 29 - 13 Ulster
Clermont saw off Ulster in France in a game that was closer than the final score suggested. A tight first half saw Ulster enter half time 10-9 but with Clermont surging towards the end of the half all this did was exhibit the strength of a half time full time bet again. With Ulster leading at half, punters who had backed Ulster half time Clermont full time were now getting 6/1 on a Clermont win that pre game had looked a solid 1/3 shot. This proved to be the case as second half Clermont found a different gear making early concerns look unfounded and they pulled away from the Ulstermen in the latter stages, landing the first leg of our treble with a 29-13 win.
Glasgow 31 - 31 Exeter
Wow, what a game this was both as a spectacle and for our bank balance. I predicted this would be the closest game of the weekend and it didn’t disappoint but there’s no way I could have foretold the way in which the match would unfold. Glasgow came flying out the blocks taking a 14-3 lead early on before Exeter then surged ahead 24-17 with 3 minutes to go to half time. With the clock in the red at the end of the first half, George Horne finished a fine move under the posts to level the scores and land us a 10/1 winner in the process. The second half was a much tighter affair as both teams stiffened in defence and after Exeter took a 31-24 lead Glasgow pulled level at 31 apiece with 15 minutes left. Glasgow continually threatened and with an Exeter scrum in their own half it seemed the visitors were playing for time. However Exeter forced a penalty and pointed at the posts, with Stuart Hogg attempting to win the game against his old club from 60 meters out. Mercifully for us the ball bounced off the bar and an enthralling affair ended with a 31 all draw and more importantly with us getting a massive 28/1 winner.

Racing 39 - 22 Munster
With Clermont and Gloucester having done what was required of them we needed Racing to land the week’s big treble and I would have been more than happy for them to run away with the game from the off. However they started awfully and were 9-0 down in little more than 10 minutes. From here they got a foothold in the game and went ahead 11-9 but on the verge of half time when they looked set to assert their dominance Andrew Conway picked off a pass that would have lead to a Racing try and went the length of the field to give Munster a 16-11 half time lead. This provided us with no cover should Munster win at full time but left us with the possibility that should Racing prevail we would be on for a monumental payday. The second half was a sweaty affair for us and with 15 minutes left on the clock Racing still trailed 22-20, an inventive kick from Finn Russell was somehow kept in the field of play for a miraculous try by Teddy Thomas to give Racing a 25-22 lead and from here they never looked back. Virimi Vakatawa crossed for a try to cruelly snatch the losing bonus point from a game Munster side and Juan Imhoff added insult to injury as time expired to give Racing a 39-22 victory and us a weekend of profit that will leave us the sworn enemy of bookmakers.
